Trucking Firm Bets on Arkansas as a Growing Logistics Hub
A regional freight company is expanding its Arkansas operations, wagering that the state's central location and interstate network make it an increasingly valuable hub for moving goods across the country.
Executives said Arkansas sits within a day's drive of a large share of the U.S. population, an advantage as retailers push to shorten delivery times. The expansion includes a larger terminal, more trucks, and investment in software to route freight more efficiently.
The logistics sector has been reshaped by the growth of e-commerce and by pressure to control fuel and labor costs. Company leaders said technology, from load-matching tools to fuel-saving route planning, is now as important as the trucks themselves.
The firm plans to hire drivers, dispatchers, and maintenance staff, and said it would partner with local colleges on commercial-driving programs to address a persistent shortage. Industry analysts said Arkansas's transportation roots position it well as freight networks continue to evolve.
