The Northwest Arkansas corridor is once again outpacing the rest of the state in job and population growth, according to a new economic report that underscores both the region's momentum and its growing pains.

The report found that the Fayetteville-Springdale-Bentonville area continues to draw new residents from across the country, fueled by employers in retail, logistics, and food processing. That influx has powered a surge in demand for restaurants, health care, and professional services, adding jobs well beyond the region's marquee corporate campuses.

But the same growth is straining housing and infrastructure. Home prices remain among the highest in the state, and traffic on key corridors has worsened. Economists warned that without more housing and transit investment, affordability could eventually blunt the region's appeal.

Business leaders said the challenge now is to spread the benefits more widely, including to smaller towns on the region's edges. The report projected continued growth through the next several years, though at a slightly slower pace than the recent boom.
