Commercial Construction Booms Along Arkansas's Growth Corridors
Cranes and construction crews have become a common sight along Arkansas's fastest-growing corridors, as developers race to add warehouses, offices, and retail space to keep up with demand.
Commercial builders said activity has been strongest in Northwest Arkansas and around Little Rock, driven by population growth, e-commerce, and companies expanding their footprints. Industrial space, especially distribution centers, has been among the hottest segments.
The boom has strained the supply of skilled trades, from electricians to concrete crews, pushing up costs and stretching timelines. Developers said higher borrowing costs have also forced them to be more selective about which projects pencil out.
Even so, industry observers said the underlying demand remains strong, and several large projects are in the pipeline. They cautioned that overbuilding is always a risk, but said Arkansas's growth has so far kept pace with the new supply coming online.
