Arkansas Accelerator's Demo Day Showcases a New Class of Founders
A cohort of early-stage companies took the stage at an Arkansas accelerator's demo day this week, pitching investors on ideas that ranged from supply-chain software to consumer apps and offering a snapshot of the state's growing startup ambitions.
The founders spent months in the program refining their products, testing them with customers, and preparing to raise money. Organizers said the class reflected a maturing ecosystem, with more founders choosing to build in Arkansas rather than leave for larger tech hubs.
Investors in the room included regional angels and venture funds, some of them alumni of earlier cohorts. Several founders said the accelerator's real value was less the funding than the mentorship and connections it provided.
Not every company will survive, organizers acknowledged, and that is the nature of early-stage investing. But they argued that each cohort strengthens the state's startup community, building a base of experienced founders, employees, and investors that compounds over time.
